The Pleasures Of Being A Student

Myra is happy 'cos her exams are (coincidentally) over too.

YES!! Finally, I'm free. Free to do what I want, free from studying. All of the students out there reading this can only imagine how I'm feeling now. From today to the 1st of September, I am free to do (within reason) all that I want!

Yesterday was the day of my last paper for my ASs (halfway between 'O' Level and 'A' Level). First exam of the day was C2 Maths. Wasn't too bad. I knew how to do all of the questions and I even had time to do all of them out again. So I can be expecting really good results from that. Then I had about two hours to wait for my next exam which was Health and Social Care.

Was running about trying to look for teachers to return the books to, and I managed to do that for all except for my Maths textbooks 'cos my teacher wasn't even in. -.- By then, I was so annoyed and flustered ('cos it was a really warm day) I just went to the Staff Room to look for all of my teachers at once. That worked really well I must say. And I have to give Ryan credit for that, 'cos it was his idea.

Then finally, I went down to the trees for my much needed break. Sat there for a few minutes and read through my Health and Social Care notes in the sun. (Note to self: Studying in the sun with friends is so fun it shouldn't be called studying)

People eventually felt hungry and so me, Ryan and Claire headed down to Subway for our lunch. Some other people just went to the bakery and sat in "cos it's cold!" :p

Yepz, so lunch was pretty good. I got my Subway with teriyaki chicken, peppered cheese and pepperoni, with pickles, olives and lettuce, topped with barbecue sauce. It wasn't too bad, just the chicken tasted a wee bit off. And that didn't exactly help my gassy stomach. Oh well.

Then after eating our lunch, Claire and Parky headed off to the Down Center to look around. And me and Ryan just sat there under the tree. Then this rough looking guy (tattoos and all) came shouting on the phone and his dog (a Boxer) was running behind him, nose on the ground. The Boxer was sniffing around us and then it spotted something Great And Interesting to it's doggy nose-Parky's lunch. It was Parky's sandwich wrapped up in aluminum foil just sitting on his file. We just ignored the dog until the dog started to nudge the package. Then I stood up over the dog just waiting for it to jump on me. But the dog cowered down, looked up at me and ran away. Looking back, I wouldn't be surprised if his owner stood over him and beat him. 'Cos the dog was actually scared of me. Poor thing.

For those who don't know what Boxers look like, here's a picture (the dog actually looked exactly like that):Now you know why I was waiting for it to pounce at my throat in a fit of mad rage. So, not long after Boxer ran away, Parky and Claire walked back and me and Ryan decided not to let Parky know that his lunch was nudged by a dog. But apparently, Parky saw it all, and after seeing that the aluminum foil was actually untouched, he ate his lunch. It was funny though :P

Took pictures (the other couple in the picture is Claire and Parky):Then we went over to the small hill where there is more sun. took pictures again, just sat about in the sun trying not to sleep (for me anyway).

Took even more pictures:And then went off for the exam. It wasn't too bad, but the time passed really fast which is a good thing I guess. But then it was a most painful process 'cos my hand was cramping up and it was so painful to write. Our invigilator was Parky's dad. And he was telling us the time again and again and telling us to at least roughly answer all the questions. I think Parky had a part in it. So I asked him, and he did tell his dad that the Health and Social Care exam has a really tight timing. That explains the unusual helpfulness from the invigilator. Still, it was nice to have a friendly invigilator.

That was just about my day. After I came home I basically had dinner, and then slept for four hours because I slept badly the night before.

I'm just so happy to be free. Now all I have to do is wait for the fruits of my labor.

racial discrimination

myra went to cuboid land by accident yesterday and she experienced racial discrimination for the first time in her short little pyramid life. all the cuboids either looked away from her haughtily or look right AT her haughtily as if she doesnt have the right to be there. and most of the little cuboids stared at her and would have pointed if they had arms. she felt so alone. poor myra. there she is..:went out with ryan yesterday after the last of my computing exam to celebrate the lack of computing for the next few months. lol. it was good fun, we went to rock city diner and watched phantom of the opera(the new movie version) it was the first time i watched the movie all at one go. and it was amazing. andrew lloyd webber is a genius in music.

so anyways, after i took the bus to newcastle in the evening, i was walking home from the bus station and three chavs (people who are unbelievably racist and lvoe to pick fights) were walking towards me and talking and staring. and i was like "they cant be staring at me" and looked behind and when i looked back, the one in the middle had a mocking smile on his face and sounded like he was saying "dont worry we're not staring at u" (i had my music plugged in so i wouldnt be able to hear anything) i know it's a stupid wee incident. but i have countless other incidents where people stare at me unabashedly (so RUDE!) or they just sorta, look haughtily as if to say "u dont belong here"

there is this other incident. i was in a full class during one of my free periods doing computing. and i was surrounded by little kids. and one of them was like shouting to another kid right over me. "pull out a wire from the girl's computer!" (i was using a computer at that time. so were they) and he did that loads of times. and as far as i can see, i was the only girl there. i got madder and madder cos it's as if he expects me to not understand what he was saying (that little *beep*) and eventually, i said really loudly "pull what wire! what wire!" and the guy who he was shouting at to pull out a wire from my computer quite sheepishly said "that one" and pointed to one of the main wires of my computer. the little *beep* just went all haughty on me. oh well.

ryan made me a daisy chain on wednesday :D here it is, all pressed up for me :Pto end on a cheerier note, here are the pics me and ryan and natalie (another girl from my computing class) took on monday (i think) after my 1st computing exam.and here are the pics of just ryan and me :P in common room on monday.in the art room during health and social care revision on wednesday. (the day he made me a daisy chain!) ^_^"To live anywhere in the world today and be against equality because of race or color is like living in Alaska and being against snow."

post for yesterday (and today!)

was studying for my computing exam yesterday. was doing past papers and everything. and i must admit i was rather successful. :D cos i did two papers. lol.

myra was studying for computing yesterday too. but she gets distracted easily and ended up having ice cream instead. that little glutton :P.computing paper wasnt too bad today. the doing of past papers really helped to relax me and make me more confident. it was loads harder than the papers i did. and there was a beast of a pseudocode question right at the end. the question went on for ever and ever. and it was worth about 20 marks. that's about a third of the paper. (full marks is 65)

oh well better stop thinking about it. have to concentrate for the next papers on next wednesday which is mechanics and english.

uncle paul bought a new fish. it's an airawana (hope i got that right) lol. and here are the pics!and a few nights ago. i found out something really cool! (for me anyway) lol. and here is the pic!see anything interesting?

look again!

ok i'll tell u. they are the same colour! orange! :D lol

i know it's quite stupid but i still think it's pretty cool to have colour co-ordinated toiletries :P

Happy Mother's Day

today is Mother's Day in Singapore. Got this from laozhabor's blog. i read it and found it really sad. i mean that portrays the worst son or daughter ever. but i'm sure we are all guilty of a few things down there. so. yea. [it's a teeny bit edited]

mommy this post is dedicated to you. picture and all. ^_^When you were 1 yr old, she fed you and bathed you.
You thanked her by crying all night long.

When you were 2 yrs old, she taught you to walk,
you thanked her by running away when she called.

When you were 3 yrs old, she made all your meals with love.

You thanked her by tossing your plate on the floor.

You thanked her by colouring the dining room table.

When you were 11 yrs old, she took you and your friends to the movies.

You thanked her by asking to sit in a different row.

When you were 12 yrs old, she warned you not to watch certain TV shows.
You thanked her by waiting until she left the house.

When you were 13 yrs old, she suggested a haircut.

You thanked her by telling her she had no taste.

When you were 14 yrs old, she paid for a month stay at summer camp.

You thanked her by forgetting to write a single letter.

When you were 20 yrs old, she asked whether you were seeing someone.

You thanked her by saying, "It's none of your business."

When you were 21 yrs old, she suggested certain careers for your future.

You thanked her by saying, "I don't want to be like you!"

When you were 22 yrs old, she hugged you at your college graduation.

You thanked her by asking whether she could pay for a trip to Europe.

When you were 23 yrs old, she gave you furniture for your first apartment.

When you were 25 yrs old, she helped to pay for your wedding, and she cried and told you how deeply she loved you.

You thanked her by moving halfway across the country.

When you were 30 yrs old, she called with some advice on the baby.

You thanked her by telling her, "Things are different now."

When you were 40, she called to remind you of a relative's birthday.

You thanked her by asking you were "really busy right now."

When you were 50, she fell ill and needed you to take care of her.

You thanked her by reading about the burden parents become to their children.

And then, one day, she quietly died.

And everything you never did came crashing down like thunder on your heart.

Never forget to love her more than ever if your mother is still around.

And if she's not, remember her unconditional love and pass it on.

Always remember to love thy mother, because you only have one mother in your lifetime!

newcomer to the blog

well well well. today is saturday already. and my exam is in about two days :( been studying sooooo much. and it is actually creepy how much work i have done in the past few days. i have finished making notes for two modules (17 chapters) of computing in 4 days. phew.

anyway, i'm going to introduce u to a newcomer, and promise not to laugh at her just because she looks different cos she is not feeling well today. let me introduce u to..myra [my-rah] the pyramid. as u can see she's not in very good shape. she's studied so much today that her brain feels like it's bursting out of her head. too much revision i guess. she normally looks alot better than this. oh well.

she's the product of my creative juices and pencil, colour pencils and pen. haha.

so if all goes well (meaning if i can be hardworking enough to draw and take pictures) then u would see alot more of myra in the near future. what with study leave and the summer holidays being so near that u can almost touch it.

i know i'm supposed to study on study leave but then i have been studying loads. and after each day my brain has not exactly fully recovered from the aftermath of chaos that studying has ravaged. it feels so light, yet so swollen. not only my brain. my body has trouble recovering from the aftermath of study too. after that much writing (i'm talking about 5 hours straight and then teeny breaks) the big big muscle on my right hand is starting to hurt everytime i rest my weight on it. and then my biceps are hurting too.

i'm sorry for complaining on this blog..u people deserve much more cheerier posts than this. lol

but then again once computing (i think i'm getting quite interested in it) is over, (on the 16th of may) then we can move on to much better and happier things! like chaucerian old english the Miller's Tale where sanctity of marriage and the morals of the church are poked fun at. and Spies by Frayn, where we see the process of the initiation into adulthood a few years too early with pain and betrayal through the eyes of a ten year old boy. and All My Sons but Arthur Miller, where we quite helplessly watch the facade of a 'perfect' American family being slowly peeled away to reveal a family who have no sense of responsibility for the wider world. drama and suspense takes place in there to a shattering climax, where the guilty father eventually killed himself, unable to face the ugly truth.

yay!

OR we can talk about mechanics, vectors, moments, impulse, particle on a horizontal plane, etc etc. is that cheerful? haha

just joking. i'm not really going to post my notes here. u people have enough school work to worry about >.< (i'm actually going to just surf the net and blog hop, my life is not THAT sad. lol)

as my English teacher would have said..

"Is it break time yet?"
